Team Edward

In response to the post from yesterday there is also another side.

Team Edward.

Not a team I fancy. Sorry.

But I love people who do so, I made a few Team Edward shirts.

I will make another tomorrow. It will be a little funnier, like my Team Jacob.

Ahhhhh, I love Jacob. I am really getting excited to see this next piece play out. Friday!

Team Jacob!

Ok, let me preface this by saying I did not have any desire to read Twilight. Ever. Really.

But...my mom brought it to me one day knowing I was in a book funk and I decided to give it a try.

It took me a long time to get into it, and then bang about 300 pages in it finally got exciting. And then it was over.

I watched the movie which was a HUGE stinkbomb. I actually wanted to turn it off about 4 times but had to see it through. Horrible doesn't come close.

And then, my good friend Marilee brought me New Moon.

Yowza, I loved it.

I hated Edward for being so horrible to Bella. That added to the fact that I really think Robert Pattinson should have gotten a better acting coach and a through face makeover, I fell in love with Jacob Black.

No, really. I did. I do not like Edward. At all. I swear.

So, New Moon is coming out in a little less than a week. I will go to the theater and watch. I know they have a new director. Thank you!!! And Edward shouldn't be in it all that much.

I have watched about 100 YouTube previews for it and all in all, it looks pretty good.

So, in homage to New Moon...and werewolves everywhere I made myself a shirt to wear to the movie! Please pardon my cell phone quality pictures, both cameras have fallen ill!

Nursing cover and diaper holder

Recently my moms neighbor had a little man named Madden. My mom asked if I would make her something special and because I knew she was going to be a nursing mom I decided to make her a cover. My diaper/wipes holder worked well as a case for the cover as well. The new mama is pretty girly so the fabric choice was easy! A few rhinestones and we were all set. She send me a message on Facebook and said she loves it! Just what I like to hear.  I am however totally bummed that both of my camera's have taken a big poo. I am stuck with just my Blackberry to take pics for a while.

A day at the park

Weather has been really nice to us here in NorCal. Last weekend we had 80's both days and the kids begged to go to the park. So we packed up and lunch and off we went.

Always have fresh cookies

I dont know how you are, but I love to have fresh soft cookies. I hate the labor and time that goes into making a batch, but a while back I was short on time and only got to bake half my batch of dough. I didnt want to just throw it out so my mom mentioned that I should put it in the fridge.

I did her one better, I froze it. I lined a sheet pan with wax paper and plopped the rest of the dough down in pre-measured balls and froze it over night. When I woke up I tossed all the balls into a freezer bag and out they went into the chest freezer.

About a week later, when I was craving cookies, I was so excited that I didnt have to make dough. I just tossed a few balls onto my cookie sheet and threw them in the oven, 12 minutes later I had cookies! Now, I have cookie dough marathons where an entire Saturday can be devoted to making cookie dough and I only have to do it once a month or so.

Chicken Fried Chicken

This has to be one of my favorite fast fall meals. Last night at 5 I had no clue what I would do with the chicken sitting in my fridge. I needed something fast since the little ones were complaining of being hungry. I took stock and realized I had just bought some new red potatoes. Since I didn't have time to make my own rolls I had to use the can of Grands my mom left here for biscuits and gravy, not my favorite but they worked.

P.S. Please do not notice there are no vegetables on this plate...it belongs to my husband and he thinks he is allergic to any vegetable ever grown.

Chicken Fried Chicken
•4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
•1 egg
•1/2 cup milk
•1 to 2 cups all-purpose flour
•Canola oil and 3 tablespoons butter
•salt
•ground black pepper

Beat together the egg and milk and set aside. Add salt and pepper to flour and mix or sprinkle both sides of chicken with salt and pepper.

Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip each piece in the egg/milk mixture, then back in the flour. (You're going to get your hands messy here, so take your rings off.) Set chicken pieces aside on a piece of waxed paper.

Heat the cooking oil in a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet over medium-high heat for a few minutes add butter for richer flavor. Oil should be about a half-inch deep in the pan. Check the temperature with a drop of water; if it pops and spits back at you, it's ready.

Carefully place each chicken breast into the hot oil. Cook chicken turning until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

If you are making your own gravy:
After the chicken is removed from the pan, pour off all but about 2 tablespoons of oil, keeping as many as possible of the browned bits in the pan. Heat the oil over medium heat until hot.

Sprinkle 3 tablespoons flour (use the left-over flour from the chicken fried chicken recipe in the hot oil. Stir with a wooden spoon, quickly, to brown the flour.

Gradually stir in 3/4 cup milk and 3/4 cup water stirring constantly with the wooden spoon and mashing out any lumps. Lower heat, and gravy will begin to thicken. Continue cooking and stirring a few minutes until gravy reaches desired consistency. Check seasonings and add more salt and pepper according to your taste.

Hannahs owl shirt

My daughter refuses to wear plain shirts. Every shirt has to have something on it. I got this tee on clearance at Target and the tags have stayed on it while it has sat in her closet for the better part of 6 months...until yesterday when we decided to use it to make a shirt to match the skirt I am making her. Im just glad she will wear it now, and she got to help make it (she helped sew it on...as I am sure you can tell)!

Pardon the pictures I took them with my phone.

Projects....in progress.

I have 2 projects I have been working on for a while. I wanted to do a picture wall in the living room with all different frames, but all painted glossy black. I also wanted to paint my dining room table.

For some reason, I am addicted to glossy black spray paint right now. I seriously want to paint everything! In addition to the table and the frames I will also paint my desk and 3 tables I picked up on Freecycle.

Here are the projects as they stand right now...

I apologize for the horrible angles of both pictures, the pictures are straight on the current photo, I was standing at an angle!

And living room picture wall, in progress as I still have 5 or so 8x10's to fit in there somewhere:

Here is the dining room table before:

And, here is the table today. I need to finish 2 chairs but I LOVE it so far! I think the shiny beautiful legs are my favorite part:

Necklace Holder

One down and a few hundred to go! I have so many things on my to-do list. The whole time Brooke and the boys were here I didnt do anything! Well, I made her a super quick diaper holder, but that is it!

So, finally I got my necklace holder done. The hardest part for me was finding the wood to make it with, but I have had it in my room under my bed for the better part of a month now! I am just glad to have it semi done. I need more hooks. But, for now I am happy. I love it actually!

A few pictures from the visit so far....

Brooke has been here for over a week and it has been amazing. The kids play great and it is just so nice to see.

Brooke had to have her Taco Tree...the first picture is seconds after she walked in my door!! 2 minutes in town and that is where she heads first!

Hannah and Josiah got married, and had their first dance!

Benjamin and Noah were fast buddies.

And of course Brooke and I are finally taking a few pictures together! Oh...and we had a night out at Britney Spears comeback concert!!

Long few weeks!

We were without internet and email for about 2 weeks here. I was using the dreaded dial up to get on occasionally, but it was so slow I didnt last long.

We are back up and running.

AND....Brooke is HERE. She came in as a surprise on April Fool's. We have had so much fun so far. It is nice to just be with her and the boys everyday! We have been taking pictures and I will post some soon. For now we are just hanging out and not too much else is getting done! I will be making Hannah's Easter skirt tonight and maybe another Buttercup.

Life is nice.

Notepad Cover

I am always, always writing down little notes. I bought a case of notepads from Staples about 2 years ago and only have a few left. I have been seeing all these cute notepad covers on other blogs and none of them would fit the notepads I have, so I made my own! I love it and cant wait to put it to good use...I am sure I will start at any second.

Morning walk turns into thrifting fun!

Ben and I walk every morning while Hannah is at school. This morning we walked through town and decided to stop at St. Josephs Parish Trift Store. I walked out $4 poorer and loads richer!

The stroller is loaded up with a few shirts for Ben and Hannah and some fun fabric, ric rac and bias!

Hanging out with Grandad, new ironing board cover and a spring skirt!

No explanation needed! (except that I hadnt realized I needed to clean the little lens on the point and shoot since I spend so much time loving my SLR lens! ;))
